Is there anything better than ripping open a freshly blown-up ARC unit and stripping away all of its insides? Maybe, but in this bleak world, this is as close to payback as we’re going to get, I’m afraid.

Usually, enemies in ARC Raiders are pretty keen to fight back, peppering you with bullets or blowing you up with targeted rockets. But you’ll soon come to realise that even the deactivated ARC Machines can do some serious damage. They hate you even in death.

A Prime Specimen deals with one of these units and forces you to risk being burnt alive in order to further your cause and reveal the secrets lying within. So strap on your gear and get ready, because it’s about to get hot!

Quest Requirements

Before you can attempt this quest, you first need to complete “The Clean Dream” quest, which is one in a line of Blue Gate storylines.

This next quest can be a pain, as you may be competing with other raiders to get the quest done. Once one of you loots the Deforester, it can’t be looted again, meaning it can only be done twice per game. It took me a few attempts to spawn close by and complete the puzzle.

Because of this, it makes sense to bring some Adrenaline Shots with you in order to head to the Deforester point as quickly as possible. And, if you’re into PvP, bring a strong weapon as you need to defend yourself against someone stealing your loot.

Walkthrough

The first thing you’ll need to do is gather 2 ARC Powercells. You can either scavenge these from ARC machines on the map or simply bring them with you as you enter the Blue Gate Map. These cells are ridiculously common, being found on every single ARC unit, as well as those deactivated ones found on the ground.

You might not complete the little puzzle the first time around, so bring four cells just in case.

Next, you’ll have to find an ARC Deforester on the Blue Gate Map. There are two of these found in the following places:

  • Southwest of the Adorned Wreckage
  • East of the Maintenance Bunker

The entrance looks like a large hollow tube with a platform in the middle. If you’re struggling to find the correct machine, look for the blue sparks flying. This indicates the spot where you’ll put your ARC Powercell.

Once you insert the first cell, a ring of flame will shoot out from the Deforester. Wait for a gap in the flames and quickly dive roll through. Now you can insert the 2nd cell.

At this point, the platform above will be available, and the flames will begin a new pattern, shooting in 4 directions instead of all at once.

Head back through the flames and climb up to the platform overhead. If you stand on the edge of the curved wall, you should just be able to reach it by jumping.

Once you’re on the platform, it might look like you’re going to get fried by the fire, but once again, you can just jump through, and you’ll be safe on the other side. The loot container can only be opened while the fire is spewing, but you have a good amount of time before the fire stops, so don’t rush.

Unfortunately, you don’t really get much for all of your hard work here, just a few bits of ARC-related metal and some advanced mechanical components. I was hoping for some Epic crafting materials, but oh well.

Rewards

This quest is the final one in its quest chain. For completing this last quest, you’ll be granted the following items:

  • 1x Patrol Car Key
  • 3x Door Blocker

If you want to use the Patrol Key, head to the Underground complex on the Blue Gate Map, and use the key to open the heavily fortified-looking vehicle.
