It looks like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is going to be a massive hit when it comes to Switch 2 this Summer, as it’s already sold out on the Square Enix Store after being revealed a few days ago.

It’s a little funny to think back to when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was considered a bit of a sales letdown when it first launched two years ago. Since then, Square Enix has moved away from console exclusives and started bringing most of its games out on every platform possible, notably including Final Fantasy 7 Remake on the Switch 2.

Before Remake had even launched, it was immediately clear that it was a massive hit, as physical copies were selling out on several storefronts close to its launch. It looks like that’s going to be true of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as well, as it’s already starting happening just a few days after its reveal.

And On The Square Enix Store, Of All Places

As pointed out by Twitter user Stealth40k, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Switch 2 port has already sold out on the Square Enix store in the US, despite only being revealed three days ago. Stock is still available on the UK version of the store at the time of writing, but it looks like that’s going to end up going fast as well.

There are a few likely reasons for this. To start with, Final Fantasy 7 Remake started selling out on Switch 2 close to its release, so anyone who’s even a little interested in owning it physically is likely jumping in to pre-order it before stock runs out. The other big reason is that the Switch 2 version of the game comes with an exclusive Zack Fair Magic: The Gathering card, while stocks last.

Those factors combined make it easy to believe that Rebirth is already selling as well as it is, but it’ll be interesting to see where it goes as we get closer to launch. Square Enix is likely to make more stock available, after all, so don’t count yourself out just yet if you didn’t manage to secure a pre-order.
