A woman is dead after an alleged hit-and-run crash in Phoenix involving a bicycle, the city’s police department said.
Police have identified the victim as 26-year-old Hannah Rose Henry.
Court records show Henry was riding her bike in the bike lane when she was hit by a van. The driver of the van was later identified as Eric Dustin Hodge, 46.ย

The crash happened around 11 a.m. on Sunday near Central Avenue and Ellwood Street. When officers got to the scene, they found Henry in the road with serious injuries.
Phoenix Fire got to the scene and pronounced Henry dead. The other vehicle involved allegedly left the area before police got to the scene, police said.
Video collected from the scene of the crash helped officers identify the van and they were able to locate the owner at their home. The owner of the van told police Hodge had been driving the van earlier in the day.ย
When officers spoke with Hodge, he told them he had smoked fentanyl before driving and was driving to buy more fentanyl at the time of the crash.ย
Hodge told police he “passes out” when he smokes fentanyl and wakes up in different places.ย
Hodge told police he remembered driving south on Central Avenue and seeing Henry in the bike lane, but did not remember hitting her.ย
The next thing Hodge said he remembered was correcting his driving. Hodge told officers he believed he had hit a hydrant on the sidewalk.
Hodge left the scene of the crash and went to buy $100 of fentanyl. Officers found the fentanyl in Hodge’s pocket and straws that appeared to be used for smoking fentanyl.ย
Hodge was arrested and in his first court appearance, he appeared to get emotional and told the judge he was “not a violent person.” He also told the court that he wished he could trade his life for Henry’s.ย
Hodge has been charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and drug charges.ย
